Los Nietos is a lovely friendly Spanish village and is centrally placed to explore Murcia, Torreieja, and the historic Port of Cartegena. The village has all the basic shops- two small supermarkets, chemist, bread shop -where you can try the delicious local pasties and pastries, newsagents and a small shop which sells an amazing variety of things!   There are several bars and restaurants. La Pescaria which overlooks the marina serves the local tapas and the Club Nautico is open to the public for lunch, though it is best to book in advance as they serve an excellent Paella. In Summer Puablo's bar has live music with dancing under the stars until the early hours.

Los Balones - A village about 5 minutes drive away. It has a wider variety of restaurants including Italian, Chinese and Indian - which have take away service, Asian, French and of course Spanish often frequented by the rich and famous staying in the La Manga golf resort.

La Manga Strip - About 15 minutes away by car - this is an amazing place, large hotels and high rise apartments, cafe's, restaurants and shops all built on a sand strip that is only one kilometer at its widest point. There are some nice beaches with watersports facilities and beach bars. Quite often you will see people covered in mud which is supposed to cure aching and painful joints. On one side of the road is the Mediterranean and just a few yards walk on the other side is the Mar Menor.
